Hiking Group

We are situated in one of the most gorgeous places on earth right here in Littleton! Each week, we will explore a different part of the foothills and south metro area hiking on trails. Please wear good footwear, sunscreen, and hats and bring water bottles. There will be no time to stop and grab water. Please also plan your bathroom breaks accordingly. The hikes themselves will be about 1 ½ hours in total with transport time added in, so let’s plan 3 hours total. Hikes are contingent upon weather. Beginning Spanish

Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Have you spoken Spanish in the past but have forgotten vocabulary and verb conjugations? It’s your lucky day! We will be learning Spanish from the ground up! For some it will be review, for some, something totally new! We will be using Amazon’s “Great Courses” videos which are taught by a Professor from Alabama University. We will stop during the 45 minute sessions and practice what is being taught that day. You are never too old to learn something new! Get your brain in motion and let’s learn a language! Attention! We run a monthly bus to area banks for residents who do not have cars or who want a ride to their bank. We go to Wells Fargo, US Bank (Southwest Plaza), Bank of the West (Southwest Plaza), First Bank, Chase (Coal Mine and Kipling) and Bellco Credit Union. Because of today’s computer usage…you can bank at any branch. You do not have to bank at the branch where you opened your account. Make plans to use our service to get to the bank! Golf at Foothills Executive 9 hole course

We will be playing the Executive 9 at Foothills Golf Course. This is a very challenging, but doable course! The longest hole is 350 yards from the white tees.$14 is the greens fee and $8 for a cart will be charged to your account. If you think you want to play, please sign up during sign ups so we have the correct number of tee times. Because this course is heavily-played, they are making a stipulation that whatever number we sign up for at the beginning of the month, we stick with so that they do not miss revenue from last-minute cancellations. Therefore, when signing up for the month, please make sure that you are sure you will be golfing the days you sign up, because you will be charged for them. If you cancel and we cannot find a replacement, you will be responsible for $14 plus $8 if you sign for a cart. Grand Lake Tour and day in town

Don’t miss this fantastic summer day in Grand Lake, Colorado at 8,367 feet above sea level! We will arrive just in time to take an historical/scenic ride on Grand Lake. We will enjoy an hour or so on the lake and then go into town for lunch and some shopping. There is a waterfall that is a ½ mile easy hike to see the beautiful falls, if you are so inclined. Please plan to bring water, good walking shoes, hat and sunglasses for when we are on the lake and/or on the hike. $30 will be charged for the tour and transport to Grand Lake. Lunch is on your own. A trained art teacher will come to our Event Center with all supplies for each person to paint a picture. She will then walk us through the steps of creating the picture she has planned. Don’t miss the annual barbecue catered by Bennett’s! We will be doing it a little different this year. We will be doing the mandated fire evacuation with station 12 and 13. You will wait to hear your building’s alarm and then exit in an orderly fashion to the pre-arranged assembly point outside and away from your building. The Fire Drill is NOT Optional! Grief/Loss Support Group

Our first group meeting was successful and we are SO lucky to have a retired Psychiatric Nurse, Group grief support facilitator in our very own Pat Burgbacher at the helm. She brings decades of experience and practice to this group and will prove to be a wonderful asset as she helps us understand the grieving process and helps us explore different things each of us can do to help ourselves or others through this process. This is a peer support group, led by a wonderful neighbor who has some background and experience in this subject and we are friends getting together to listen, give a hug, suggest what might have helped them, etc… We will see where this goes…No need to sign up, just come and be a good listener and a warm shoulder.

Leadville Wildflower Train Trip

We will journey to Leadville, Colorado around 14,000 ft. and enjoy a train trip to see the beautiful wildflowers! Those who choose can take a short hike off the train into the wildflowers or you can choose to stay on the train and ride a little farther up the track. Afterward, we will tour the Healy museum and have a box lunch on the premises. $95 will be charged for the trip if you are hiking, if you are not hiking, your trip will be $75.
