Golf at Foothills Executive 9-hole course

We will be playing the Executive 9 at Foothills Golf Course. This is a very challenging, but doable course! The longest hole is 350 yards from the white tees. $14 is the greens fee and $8 for a cart will be charged to your account. If you think you want to play, please sign up during sign ups so we have the correct number of tee times. Because this course is heavily-played, they are making a stipulation that whatever number we sign up for at the beginning of the month, we stick with so that they do not miss revenue from last-minute cancellations. Therefore, when signing up for the month, please make sure that you are sure you will be golfing the days you sign up, because you will be charged for them. If you cancel and we cannot find a replacement, you will be responsible for $14 plus $8 if you sign for a cart. Take note!! I have heard many people want their watch batteries changed or their rings cleaned or their jewelry checked for solidity. Because of today’s computer usage…you can bank at any branch. You do not have to bank at the branch where you opened your account. Make plans to use our service to get to the bank! Beginning Spanish

Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Have you spoken Spanish in the past but have forgotten vocabulary and verb conjugations? It’s your lucky day! We will be learning Spanish from the ground up! For some it will be review, for some, something totally new! We will be using Amazon’s “Great Courses” videos which are taught by a Professor from Alabama University. We will stop during the 45-minute sessions and practice what is being taught that day. You are never too old to learn something new! Get your brain in motion and let’s learn a language! Hiking Group

We are situated in one of the most gorgeous places on earth right here in Littleton! Each week, we will explore a different part of the foothills and south metro area hiking on trails. Please wear good footwear, sunscreen, and hats and bring water bottles. There will be no time to stop and grab water. Please also plan your bathroom breaks accordingly. The hikes themselves will be about 1 ½ hours in total with transport time added in, so let’s plan 3 hours total. Hikes are contingent upon weather. Horse Races

It’s that time again to go and enjoy a day out at the races! Arapahoe Racetrack is off of E470 in eastern Aurora and boasts a wonderful time watching and betting on your favorite horse! This is a great time to relax and enjoy a summer afternoon watching the world go by while you are in the comfort of an air-conditioned clubhouse close to all things necessary! All food is self-serve now, so you will order and pick up food and take it back to your table. Concessions offer burgers, chicken fingers, nachos and the like. MONDAYS ARE FREE!! Denver Broncos Training Camp and lunch at The Perfect Landing

Come enjoy a morning at the beautiful Broncos’ training facility, watching our home team get ready for a winning season! We will sit on chairs under a tent, as comfortable as can be. Afterward, we will enjoy lunch at The Perfect Landing at Centennial Airport. Please peruse the menu in your building’s book. Calling all want-to-be artists or already working artists!!! This class is for ANYONE who loves art and would be interested in creating a work of art in a 2-hour period right in your community! A trained art teacher will come to our Event Center with all supplies for each person to paint a picture. She will then walk us through the steps of creating the picture she has planned. Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibit and dinner at The Stanley Beer Garden

One of the world’s most beautiful art pieces in on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and some will never get to see it. However, the Las Vegas-based SEE Global Entertainment has a touring exhibit which will occupy 10,000 square feet of the Stanley Hangar ( a former testing facility for military aircraft). The exhibit will include replicas of frescos like “The Creation of Adam” and “The Last Judgement” along with others. This will be a very innovative way to see something many of us have heard of but never been able to visit. This will be a walking tour of a large hangar full of art. Afterward, we will have dinner at The Stanley Beer Garden. $12 will be charged for your ticket. There is an optional audio tour you can purchase that day for a nominal fee. Dinner is on your own. We are taking the next step to healthy living. Concordia is pleased to announce our partnership with Bridges Community Home Care. This is our way of helping to keep our Concordia family safe in your homes. For the month of June each Concordia resident may participate in a FREE Wellness screening which will be performed by a trained Wellness Coordinator. This process only takes 10-15 minutes, but the benefits can last a lifetime. You will sign up for your screening and this will report any areas of health and wellness concern. Grief/Loss Support Group

We are SO lucky to have a retired Psychiatric Nurse, Group grief support facilitator in our very own Pat Burgbacher at the helm. She brings decades of experience and practice to this group and will prove to be a wonderful asset as she helps us understand the grieving process and helps us explore different things each of us can do to help ourselves or others through this process. This is a peer support group, led by a wonderful neighbor who has some background and experience in this subject and we are friends getting together to listen, give a hug, suggest what might have helped them, etc …No need to sign up, just come and be a good listener and a warm shoulder.

Calling all guys! Please join this fun group of gentlemen for their monthly trek to Rosemary Café for a wonderful breakfast to sustain them for the day! This is a great opportunity to meet the men of Concordia and catch up with old friends as well! It’s a fun group of guys just waiting to welcome you to the crew! Document Shredding

We will be providing a document shredder for all your sensitive documents on Friday, August 30 from 10-12. Please bring your boxes or bags of documents over to the Event Center on Thursday evening, August 29 between 1 and 3pm. Each building has carts and grocery baskets to use to wheel the papers over. The documents will be locked up overnight in the Event Center until shredded the next morning.

Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social and Car Show

What a great way to celebrate the end of summer! There will be old cars to admire, a DJ in the parking lot and ice cream galore!
