Denver Youth Orchestra Concert

Come join us as we bid farewell to the students who are leaving for their tour!  This concert will include works from Brahms, Shostakovich, Dvorak and Gershwin. These young musicians will be touring and spreading their beautiful music while representing Colorado as they do so! You must have a Foothills Recreation District ID. If you don’t have one, bring your proof of physical address and identification and Risa will help you get your ID. Macy will be teaching this beneficial class which will include core strengthening and flexibility exercises for those with arthritis or osteoarthritis. Attention! We run a monthly bus to area banks for residents who do not have cars or who want a ride to their bank. We go to Wells Fargo, US Bank (Southwest Plaza), Bank of the West (Southwest Plaza), First Bank, Chase (Coal Mine and Kipling) and Bellco Credit Union. Because of today’s computer usage…you can bank at any branch. You do not have to bank at the branch where you opened your account. Make plans to use our service to get to the bank! Hiking Group

We are situated in one of the most gorgeous places on earth right here in Littleton! Each week, we will explore a different part of the foothills and south metro area hiking on trails. Please wear good footwear, sunscreen, and hats and bring water bottles. There will be no time to stop and grab water. Please also plan your bathroom breaks accordingly. Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is a 45 minute class that will leave you feeling stretched and rejuvenated. This class will include some meditation followed by a series of floor exercises (so bring a mat or large towel please), standing postures, balancing postures, and finish in Savasana (a yogic term for Relaxation). Gentle Yoga has been known to reduce swelling in joints, increase mobility, improve balance and stability, aid in digestion and better quality of sleep, among many more benefits that will allow you to be proactive with your health and wellness. Come and meet the new audiologist, Pat Davis the first Tuesday of every month! He will be replacing Columbine Audiology who has been a wonderful partner for us for the past 15 years. Golf at Foothills Executive 9 hole course

It’s that time again!  Again this year, we will be playing the Executive 9 at Foothills Golf Course.  This is a very challenging, but doable course!  The longest hole is 350 yards from the white tees.  $14 is the greens fee and $8 for a cart will be charged to your account.  Because this course is heavily-played, they are making a stipulation that whatever number we sign up for at the beginning of the month, we stick with so that they do not miss revenue from last-minute cancellations.  Therefore, when signing up for the month, please make sure that you are sure you will be golfing the days you sign up, because you will be charged for them.  If you cancel and we cannot find a replacement, you will be responsible for $14 plus $8 if you sign for a cart.  If you cancel within 24 hours of the event, you will also be responsible for a $5 cancellation fee; $10 if it is a 2 van event.  Please sign up in the Birch dining room to be a part of these events.

Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Have you spoken Spanish in the past but have forgotten vocabulary and verb conjugations? It’s your lucky day! We will be learning Spanish from the ground up! For some it will be review, for some, something totally new! We will be using Amazon’s “Great Courses” videos which are taught by a Professor from Alabama University. We will stop during the 45 minute sessions and practice what is being taught that day. You are never too old to learn something new!  Get your brain in motion and let’s learn a language! Calling all want-to-be artists or already working artists!!!  This class is for ANYONE who loves art and would be interested in creating a work of art in a 2 hour period right in your community! A trained art teacher will come to our Event Center with all supplies for each person to paint a picture. She will then walk us through the steps of creating the picture she has planned. Grief/Loss Support Group

Our first group meeting was successful and we are SO lucky to have a retired Psychiatric Nurse, Group grief support facilitator in our very own Pat Burgbacher at the helm. She brings decades of experience and practice to this group and will prove to be a wonderful asset as she helps us understand the grieving process and helps us explore different things each of us can do to help ourselves or others through this process. This is a peer support group, led by a wonderful neighbor who has some background and experience in this subject and we are  friends getting together to listen, give a hug, suggest what might have helped them, etc… We will see where this goes…No need to sign up, just come and be a good listener and a warm shoulder.

Prevent the Event

We are taking the next step to healthy living. Concordia is pleased to announce our partnership with Prevent the Event. This is our way of helping to keep our Concordia family safe in your homes. For the month of June each Concordia resident may participate in a FREE Wellness screening which will be performed by a trained Wellness Coordinator. This process only takes 10-15 minutes, but the benefits can last a lifetime. You will sign up for your screening and this will report any areas of health and wellness concern. It’s that time again to go and enjoy a day out at the races! Arapahoe Racetrack is off of E470 in eastern Aurora and boasts a wonderful time watching and betting on your favorite horse! This is a great time to relax and enjoy a summer afternoon watching the world go by while you are in the comfort of an air-conditioned clubhouse close to all things necessary! All food is self-serve now, so you will order and pick up food and take it back to your table. Concessions offer burgers, chicken fingers, nachos and the like. There must be 10 signed up to go on this event. FRIDAYS ARE FREE!! If you would like a program, they are $3 at the door and all bets start at $2. Lunch is on your own. If you cancel within 24 hours of the event, you will also be responsible for a $5 cancellation fee; $10 if it is a 2-van event. Please sign up in the Birch dining room to be a part of this event.

Come and enjoy this fabulous group in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater at Arvada Center. You will sit in covered seats and enjoy some wonderful feel-good music! $22.50 will be charged to your account for your ticket. If you cancel and we cannot find a replacement, you will be responsible for $22.50. If you cancel within 24 hours of the event, you will also be responsible for a $5 cancellation fee; $10 if it is a 2 van event.
