Hiking Group

What a great opportunity to get out and see all Colorado has to offer! We are situated in one of the most gorgeous places on earth right here in Littleton! Each week, we will explore a different part of the foothills and south metro area hiking on trails. Please wear good footwear, sunscreen, and hats and bring water bottles. There will be no time to stop and grab water. Please also plan your bathroom breaks accordingly. The hikes themselves will be about 1 ½ hours in total with transport time added in, so let’s plan 3 hours total. Hikes are contingent upon weather. Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is a 45 minute class that will leave you feeling stretched and rejuvenated. This class will include some meditation followed by a series of floor exercises (so bring a mat or large towel please), standing postures, balancing postures, and finish in Savasana (a yogic term for Relaxation). Gentle Yoga has been known to reduce swelling in joints, increase mobility, improve balance and stability, aid in digestion and better quality of sleep, among many more benefits that will allow you to be proactive with your health and wellness. YES!! We are having our annual flu shot clinic again this year! Front Range Flu Shot clinic will be here at Concordia to give you your flu shot right here! They WILL NOT be bringing Pneumonia shots as the dosages differ and since this is a new clinic administering our immunizations, they cannot know who has had what pneumonia shot in what year. This is a convenient way to get your immunization! If you are with Kaiser, they give them free at Kaiser, so you will need to go there. We are taking the next step to healthy living. Concordia is pleased to announce our partnership with Bridges Community Home Care. This is our way of helping to keep our Concordia family safe in your homes. Every month each Concordia resident may participate in a FREE Wellness screening which will be performed by a trained Wellness Coordinator. This process only takes 10-15 minutes, but the benefits can last a lifetime. You will sign up for your screening and this will report any areas of health and wellness concern. Art Class for All

Calling all want-to-be artists or already working artists!!! This class is for ANYONE who loves art and would be interested in creating a work of art in a 2 hour period right in your community! A trained art teacher will come to our Event Center with all supplies for each person to paint a picture. She will then walk us through the steps of creating the picture she has planned. What can you lose? There can only be 15 people in the class, so be sure you sign up early to make sure you get on the list! First come, first served! AARP Safe Driver Course

Join us for a certified instructed class on driver safety sponsored by AARP. You will learn new safety guidelines and be reminded of many guidelines you just assume you know as you are driving down the road. Please check if your insurance will give you a break on premiums. The class will be $15 for members, $20 for non-members. You must bring a check, your AARP card and your driver’s license to the class to be admitted. Grief/Loss Support Group

We are SO lucky to have a retired Psychiatric Nurse, Group grief support facilitator in our very own Pat Burgbacher at the helm. She brings decades of experience and practice to this group and will prove to be a wonderful asset as she helps us understand the grieving process and helps us explore different things each of us can do to help ourselves or others through this process. This is a peer support group, led by a wonderful neighbor who has some background and experience in this subject and we are friends getting together to listen, give a hug, suggest what might have helped them, etc …No need to sign up, just come and be a good listener and a warm shoulder.

This 90-minute workshop is an easy, interactive way to help people over 50 learn about the safety technology in their current or future car. During this session, you will learn about nine key safety features including smart headlights for safer night driving, blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning systems and more. Use your newfound knowledge and AARP’s resource material to explore the safety technology that may be present in your existing car or use it to help you ask the right questions when purchasing a new or used vehicle. Note: This course is distinct from AARP’s Smart Driver course in that it will not result in a discount on your auto insurance.
