Breakfast with Santa

Bring your Grandchildren, nieces, nephews or friends to meet Santa! This is Concordia’s 13th annual Santa breakfast where residents and their families can come, enjoy a continental breakfast and a visit from Santa! The children will even receive a gift from Santa! $10 will be charged for each child. Please sign up and include the number of GUESTS only in the guest column on the RSVP sheet. Please also include name, age and sex of each child. If you cancel after November 23,rd  you will be responsible for the $10 per guest you have signed up for. Glass Blowing Experience at Agnes of Glass with lunch out

Don’t miss this exciting day learning how to blow your own glass Christmas ornament! We will visit Agnes in her glass studio and she will show you the techniques she uses to make exquisite one of a kind pieces! You will use the tools and create an ornament you can hang on your own tree or give to someone special! This is a very fun event you won’t want to miss! Agnes’ studio is small, so she can only take 7 at any one time. Please sign up early as this event only is first come, first served. The cost of the class and the ornament is $25. Pilates

This class is for all who want to be healthy and work on flexibility and strength! Macy will be teaching this beneficial class which will include core strengthening and flexibility exercises for those with arthritis or osteoarthritis. She has many useful tips on the use of exercise for the graceful aging of bones and joints. No need to sign up…just come on over to the Event Center.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is a 45 minute class that will leave you feeling stretched and rejuvenated. This class will include some meditation followed by a series of floor exercises (so bring a mat or large towel please), standing postures, balancing postures, and finish in Savasana (a yogic term for Relaxation). Gentle Yoga has been known to reduce swelling in joints, increase mobility, improve balance and stability, aid in digestion and better quality of sleep, among many more benefits that will allow you to be proactive with your health and wellness. Bank Run

Attention! We run a monthly bus to area banks for residents who do not have cars or who want a ride to their bank. We go to Wells Fargo, US Bank (Southwest Plaza), Bank of the West (Southwest Plaza), First Bank, Chase (Coal Mine and Kipling) and Bellco Credit Union. Because of today’s computer usage…you can bank at any branch. You do not have to bank at the branch where you opened your account. Make plans to use our service to get to the bank! Hearing Clinic

Come and meet the new audiologist, Pat Davis the first Tuesday of every month! He will be replacing Columbine Audiology who has been a wonderful partner for us for the past 15 years. They have moved across town and are downsizing and no longer have the man-power to come over and service Concordia. We are excited to make a new relationship with Pat Davis whom several of our residents already see for their hearing aid needs. Please stop by and meet Pat and see what he can do for you, your hearing and your hearing aids. Come get your dance on with Risa! This fun, energizing class will teach you line dance steps to a variety of music, including The Electric Slide, Boot Scoot and Boogie, Rockin’ Cha, Cupid Shuffle, just to name a few. We will dance on the dance floor. WEAR SHOES THAT ARE SLICK ON THE BOTTOM, SUCH AS LOAFERS, COWBOY BOOTS, DANCE SHOES, BALLET SHOES (not tennis shoes). PLEASE BRING A BOTTLE OF WATER. SMITHTONIANS HOLIDAY CONCERT

This very talented group of bell ringers will be performing many holiday favorites in addition to “Masters in This Hall”, often performed at Madrigal dinners during the holidays. “Masters in This Hall” is a Christmas carol with words written around 1860 by the English poet and artist William Morris to an old French dance tune. The carol is moderately popular around the world but has not entered the canon of most popular carols. In conclusion they will perform Trans Siberian orchestra’s Christmas in Sarajevo! This will be a wonderful evening! RSVP in your building’s book by Monday, December 3 to be a part of this event.

You must have a Foothills Recreation District ID. If you don’t have one, bring your proof of physical address and identification and Risa will help you get your ID. Come and join us for a whole lot of fun!! Each week, we will play a different game on the WII video game console. This is an active video game where you do the actions and it is almost like you ARE bowling or standing on a tee box on a golf course! It is fun, friendly competition and you can get your exercise without leaving the community! The Concordia Calendar will show which sport is being played on what day. Blood Pressure Clinic

Be sure not to miss Krista, CAN, who visits Concordia the first Thursday every month to keep an eye on your blood pressure. Jewelry Clinic

Take note!! I have heard many people want their watch batteries changed or their rings cleaned or their jewelry checked for solidity. Roxy and Scott Sheldon, with combined experience of 40+ years in the jewelry business, will be at Concordia offering free cleaning, watch battery changing (you buy the battery) and any other jewelry needs you may have! Art Class

Calling all want-to-be artists or already working artists!!! This class is for ANYONE who loves art and would be interested in creating a work of art in a 2 hour period right in your community! A trained art teacher will come to our Event Center with all supplies for each person to paint a picture. She will then walk us through the steps of creating the picture she has planned. What can you lose? There can only be 15 people in the class, so be sure you sign up early to make sure you get on the list! First come, first served! Have you ever wanted to write your life story? Has your family asked that you write down your stories? This would be a great Christmas present! Grief/Loss Support Group

Our first group meeting was successful and we are SO lucky to have a retired Psychiatric Nurse, Group grief support facilitator in our very own Pat Burgbacher at the helm. She brings decades of experience and practice to this group and will prove to be a wonderful asset as she helps us understand the grieving process and helps us explore different things each of us can do to help ourselves or others through this process. This is a peer support group, led by a wonderful neighbor who has some background and experience in this subject and we are friends getting together to listen, give a hug, suggest what might have helped them, etc… We will see where this goes…No need to sign up, just come and be a good listener and a warm shoulder.

Campus Middle School Choir concert

Don’t miss this special middle school choir who was featured on CBS’ The Talk, hosted by Sharon Osborne and Carnie Wilson. They are an audition choir made up of 6-8 graders of this Cherry Creek district middle school. They will be traveling around sharing joy for the season. This family-friendly evening features traditional Christmas carols, highlights from our popular production of Too Hot to Handel, and a chance to sing along to a few of your favorite winter tunes. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to see who’s naughty and who’s nice in preparation for the big night! Movie Out

Talk your friends into going to the movies! We will go to an area theatre where you will be able to choose from a couple of current movies. This is a nice chance to spend time with your friends and become acquainted with popular culture through movies! Movie and refreshments are on your own. Risa will determine what movie(s) will be seen no sooner than the Monday prior to Movie Out. Most likely, the 12:30pm time noted below will change. You may choose to go or not, based on whether you’d like to see the movie(s) being offered. **You will not be charged a cancellation fee if you decide not to go. Dinner at Pappadeaux and Holiday Light Tour

Don’t miss this annual holiday tradition at Concordia! We will start our special evening out with a dinner at one of Denver’s favorite seafood restaurants! The menu includes many seafood favorites including oysters, shrimp done many different ways, creole gumbo and etouffee and much more! Please see the menu in your building’s book prior to signing up! Afterword, you will be taken around the city to look at light displays. It is a lovely holiday tradition and one not to miss! Dinner is on your own. Calling all guys! Please join this fun group of gentlemen for their monthly trek to Rosemary Café for a wonderful breakfast to sustain them for the day! COMCAST Informational Meeting with Comcast Account Exec Deborah Lemon- L’Heureux

Deborah Lemon-L’Heureux from Comcast returns to answer questions about your Comcast bill, your service or any other concerns you may have. She will repeat the presentation on the new X1 voice remote as well. If you want her to look privately at your bill or service, please sign up in one of the ten time slots on the sheet at sign up.
